Siusan O’Rourke & Zig Zeitler have performed traditional and contemporary Irish music for enthusiastic audiences for almost two decades and in 2012, 2013 and 2014, their efforts garnered them a committee nomination by the Irish Music Association for "Top Duo" (in the US, UK, Ireland and throughout Europe as noted on the IMA website).
An Evening of Irish music is an experience that will leave audiences feeling connected to not only the music and culture of Ireland but to this welcoming duo as well. Ballads, traditional and original, contemporary songs rearranged into the Irish tradition, autobiographical, historical and witty stories interweave throughout these evenings. The pair is known for their beautiful ballads, but don’t dismiss their equally entertaining banter and humorous songs that they have written themselves. Siusan (the Gaelic spelling of "Susan"), has a full and gorgeous voice and she is accompanied by Zig Zeitler who brings his excellent skills on the Irish bouzouki, octave mandolin, mandolin, guitar and banjo to the duo’s repertoire.
The rich repertoire includes age-old traditional Irish songs, alongside new and contemporary music. Expect to hear beautiful vocals and excellent instrumentation, but these seasoned veterans are also prepared to offer history-based programs and music workshops.
Sample song list: Banks Of Red Roses, Gowden Locks O Anna, Derry Street, Bold Riley, Endearing Young Charms, Rakes Of Mallow
